(2019) Tension based heading control strategy of the arctic FPSO with DP assisted mooring system

Abstract

Arctic region에서 운용할 offshore plant 디자인하는데는 ice load를 반영해야한다. Ice load가 present할때는 플랫폼의 헤딩이 ice load가 오는 방향쪽으로 틀어져야한다 (-> line tension을 줄이기 위해서). 하지만 direction of the ice load를 추정하는것은 쉽지않다. 그렇기에 해당논문에서는 'a heading control startegy to reduce the ice load acting on a platform'를 제안한다.

Zhou, L., Moan, T., Su, B., Riska, K. Numerical modeling of ice loads on an icebraking tanker: comparing simulations with model tests (2013): ice condition에서 heading control에 대한 영향을 보기위해 시뮬레이션을 돌림. a proper heading control이 line tension을 줄여준다는것을 테스트를 통해 입증.

Kerkeni, S., Metrikin, I. Automatic Heading Control for Dynamic Positioning in Ice (2013): ice condition에서의 heading control의 중요성을 강조함. 저자는 automatic heading control을 추천함.

Kerkeni, S., Liferov, P., Serré, N. Bridges, R. and Jorgensen, F. Station-Keeping Trials in Ice: Dynamic Positioning in Ice – Results and Learnings (2018): 저자는 Arctic ocean에서 full-scale DP test를 수행함. a heading control for normal sea를 적용했을때는 station-keeping에 실패함. 여기 저자 또한 ice load condition에서 heading control의 중요성을 강조함.

 

Methodology

1. Detection of tension with certain window size -> mean of tension: line tension time history를 일정 window size에 대해서 mean tension구한다는 소리

2. Calculation of target heading using the two most loaded lines: 장력 제일 많이 걸리는 라인 두개 사이값으로 target heading 설정

* 개선여지: 1) using the window size? 장력에 튀는(peaky) 값이 들어갈텐데 그래도 괜찮나? 2) 굳이 two most loaded lines를 사용해야했나? 넓게 통계적으로 접근할수있는 방법은 없을까?

 

Results

제안하는 heading control strategy를 적용한것과 안한것을 비교한다. 적용한 경우가 ice load direction에 더욱 근접하게 헤딩을 잡는것을 확인할 수 있음. (적용안된경우는 weather vaning을 이용)

* 개선여지: 현 논문에서는 ice load를 impulse function 형태로 넣었으므로, ice load를 좀 더 현실성있게 넣어줄 필요가있고, 현실성 있는 ice load에 대해서 시뮬레이션 검증이 필요함.

 

Conclusion

제안한 heading control strategy를 쓰면, target heading이 ice load direction으로 잘 잡힌다. 근데 target heading설정에 있어서 fluctuation을 띄므로, 이 부분이 향상되어야 한다.
